Centurion Jiu Jitsu Academy - Safeguarding Policy

1. Purpose- To protect the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of all students, especially children, adolescents, and vulnerable adults during academy activities.

 

2. Core Principles- Zero tolerance for abuse, bullying, discrimination, or harassment.- Mutual respect among instructors, students, and visitors.- Transparency and accountability in all actions and interactions.

 

3. Responsibilities Staff and Coaches:- Undergo background checks.- Participate in safeguarding training.- Maintain professional conduct.- Avoid unsupervised 1-on-1 situations with minors.- Report any concern immediately to the safeguarding lead. Parents/Guardians:- Escort children to and from class.- Inform the academy of any relevant information about the student. Students:- Treat everyone with respect.- Report any uncomfortable situation during classes or in the academy environment.

 

4. Code of Conduct- No inappropriate physical contact.- Interactions must be age-appropriate.- Never isolate a child or teenager in a closed space without parental consent and supervision.

 

5. Communication- No direct messaging with minors unless authorized by parents.- Group chats must include at least one staff member or guardian.

 

6. Reporting and Response- All suspicions or allegations will be taken seriously.- Anonymous reports are allowed (if possible).- Confidentiality will be respected, except when legal authorities are involved.- The academy has a designated Safeguarding Lead.

 

7. Review- This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary.

Centurion Jiu Jitsu Academy Photography & Media Policy

1. Purpose - This policy outlines how Centurion Jiu Jitsu Academy collects, uses, and manages photographs and video recordings of its members during classes, events, and related activities. It is designed to respect privacy while promoting the academy's values and community.

 

2. Scope -  This policy applies to all students, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors. It covers images and videos captured for promotional, educational, or internal purposes.

3. Use of Photography and Video Photographs and videos may be used in the following contexts: - Academy social media channels (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) - Official website - Printed and digital marketing materials - Internal communications and instructional content Images will not include names or personal identifiers unless explicit written or verbal consent is obtained.

 

4. Safeguarding and Data Protection - No media will be taken in private areas such as changing rooms or toilets. - All images and footage will be respectful, appropriate, and in line with safeguarding standards. - Only authorised staff may capture or publish media on behalf of the academy. - All media will be stored securely and used responsibly.

 

5. Consent and Opt-Out - By participating in classes or events, students and their guardians acknowledge that media may be captured. However, anyone has the right to opt out at any time. To opt out: - Please inform the Head Coach in person, or - Email your request to the academy. Efforts will be made to ensure individuals who opt out are not included in any published content.

 

6. Third-Party Media - Occasionally, third parties (e.g., local media, sponsors) may request permission to film or photograph academy activities. In such cases, prior consent will be sought from all individuals involved or their guardians.
